Don’t Trash the Past– Honoring History, Building a Better Future

Introduction

Welcome to the "Don’t Trash the Past" campaign, an initiative by Keep Lake Como Beautiful to honor the legacy of our vibrant community while addressing present-day challenges. This year, we invite you to join us in preserving the history of Lake Como and ensuring a cleaner, safer future.

The artistic sculptural plaza at Lake Como Park by RDG Dahlquist Art Studio is inspired by the location’s natural beauty and rich history. Anchored by a strong, weathering steel sculpture that frames the community literally and figuratively, Do Something Good For Your Neighbor is an invitation to gather and gaze both outward and inward.

Campaign at a Glance

Why “Don’t Trash the Past”?

This year, Keep Lake Como Beautiful invites you to step into the story of our community with the theme “Don’t Trash the Past.” As we gear up for the Neighborhood Litter Stomp, we're not just cleaning up—we’re preserving the legacy of Lake Como. This theme is a call to action to respect the roots of our vibrant neighborhood by keeping our streets clean and our history alive.

Join us in celebrating the rich heritage of Lake Como through the first Historic Walking Tour of Horne Street, highlighting the landmarks and cultural sites that have shaped our community. Together, we can honor the past, tackle the present challenges, and pave the way for a brighter, cleaner future. Let’s show that we value where we’ve been as much as where we’re going—because Lake Como’s story is worth preserving!

Through the Historic Walking Tour of Horne Street, we will highlight the key landmarks and cultural sites that have shaped our neighborhood.

Addressing Present Issues

From litter to speeding concerns and zoning challenges, our community faces real issues today. We will engage residents in open conversations about these problems and work together to find solutions.

Planning for the Future

We’re also looking ahead. The Horne Streetscape Project will transform one of our community’s most important corridors. Help us shape its future by sharing your feedback and ideas.

Impact

Engage 30% of tour participants in discussions about current community concerns and collect actionable feedback for future initiatives.
