This program is part of KLCB’s resident-first work to strengthen Lake Como block by block.
WHAT THIS PROGRAM IS
On My Block (OMB) is a KLCB program built to help residents move from frustration, worry, and scattered concern into more organized block-level action.
It is for Lake Como residents, block-level participants, and neighbors who want a clearer way to help strengthen safety, visibility, reporting, and follow-through where they live.
This program exists because neighborhood pride cannot survive on concern alone. People need a clearer way to show up, report what is happening, stay visible, and keep the work moving.
WHY IT MATTERS
Lake Como does not need more vague concern about safety and neighborhood conditions.
It needs stronger block-level structure. It needs residents who know how to stay visible, report clearly, and keep pressure on repeated issues without burning out or working in isolation.
On My Block matters because it helps turn concern into organized neighborhood action. It gives people a way to contribute that is practical, local, and easier to repeat.
WHAT THE PROGRAM DOES
Through this program, KLCB works to:

create visible resident roles that make participation more structured and repeatable

encourage reporting, documentation, and follow-through instead of vague concern only

help move public safety from fear and reaction into organized neighborhood action

WHAT’S NEEDED NOW
Right now, this program most needs more block-level participants, more consistent follow-through, and more people willing to help carry outreach, reporting, and accountability.
Like any serious neighborhood effort, this program cannot replace city enforcement, code systems, or public safety institutions. It also cannot sustain real neighborhood change without consistent resident participation.
This is where others may be able to add value without duplicating the work.

Time Commitment: Volunteers can contribute as much or as little time as they are able. Whether it’s helping with one clean-up event or serving as a Block Buddy, every effort counts!
