It is also about whether residents can understand what is happening, find a legitimate way into the process, take useful action, organize with others, and influence what happens next.
A neighborhood worth knowing
Lake Como is a historic Fort Worth community with a strong cultural identity and generations of residents, families, institutions, businesses, and relationships tied to the neighborhood.
That history matters. So does the present.
Lake Como continues to experience change in its homes, streets, public spaces, services, development patterns, and institutions. KLCB’s work begins with the people who live with those conditions and decisions now while respecting the history, culture, family ties, and memory carried by people whose connection to Como extends across generations.
Why KLCB is place-based

Keep Lake Como Beautiful is PLCDC’s place-based resident activation and neighborhood revitalization platform in Lake Como.
PLCDC provides the governance, strategy, standards, systems, resources, evidence discipline, and institutional capacity behind the work.
KLCB applies that framework here—on this block, around this issue, with these residents, through a practical pathway.

Current residents are central
Current Lake Como residents live with today’s neighborhood conditions and today’s public and private decisions. That makes current residents the primary action community for KLCB’s place-based work.
But residence is not the only way people belong to Como.
Former residents, families, alumni, businesses, institutions, cultural networks, and others with meaningful ties to Lake Como can contribute history, relationships, expertise, resources, opportunity, and support.
KLCB’s approach is simple: belonging can be broad while place-based authority remains grounded in the people living with present conditions and present decisions.
What KLCB helps residents do

This work happens across four practice fields: Beautification & Greening, Public Safety & Crime Prevention, Neighborhood Pride & Engagement, and Advocacy & Equitable Development.
Revitalization without erasure
KLCB supports a Lake Como that is safer, cleaner, more connected, and able to benefit from growth without losing the culture and legacy that make Como, Como.
That means neighborhood improvement cannot be measured only by new investment, new construction, cleaner spaces, or completed projects.
It also matters whether residents have access to information and processes, understand the systems affecting the neighborhood, can organize around what matters, and have meaningful opportunities to influence what happens next.
